Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of co-pyrolysis of sewage sludge and manure as a potential management technology for these residues. This work is a preliminary study mainly focused on product yields (solid, liquid and gas), their compositions and heating values. Pyrolysis of sludge/manure mixture (50%-50%) was performed at 525 şC in a stirred batch reactor under N2 atmosphere. The product yields and some characteristics of the products were analysed and compared to the results obtained in the pyrolysis of pure residues. According to the results obtained in this work, the addition of 50% of sewage sludge to manure enhances the pyrolysis liquid fuel applications and worsens the char fuel applications.
