Abstract:

The Sleepy Eye Biogas Energy is under development in the City of Sleepy Eye in Brown County, Minnesota. This bio-refinery will process annually a total amount of 200,000 tons of agricultural wastes comprised of turkey litter along with corn silage and corn juice, both from local canning operations, and corn stover from local farms into bio-methane fuel, carbon dioxide as industrial gas and bio-fertilizers through a thermophilic dry anaerobic co-digestion process. Sleepy Eye Biogas Energy will export over 35 million m3 per year of renewable natural gas to be employed in the transport sector for heavy duty vehicles in other parts of the country. The facility will occupy 8.8 ha of land in the Sleepy Eye Industrial Park. The ECOCORP team will be responsible for funding, design, engineering, permits, contracts, construction management, training, operations and maintenance for the Sleepy Eye Biogas Energy.
