Abstract:
This study is the first contribution of PhD thesis research in Economics and Agricultural Policy and Food on the reconverting sugar plant to agro-energy in Italy. The European reform of the sugar industry has led to the closure of several sugar plants; in Italy nine of them should be reconverted into biomass power plants. In this scenario the present study wants to show the contribution of the implementation of several reconversion projects from sugar sector to bio-energy sector. In total the biomass fuelled power plants will have 187,5 MWe nominal capacity with 1,74 TWh electricity production for year. 96.650 hectare energy crops will be grown
