Abstract:
Response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to optimize hydrothermal pretreatment conditions for glucose and xylose recovery from poppy stalk, with respect to temperature (120-200oC), solid to liquid ratio (0.05-0.20) and pretreatment time (5-60 min). While experimental maximum glucose recovery of 628.20 mg glucose/g initial cellulose was achieved at condition of 200 °C, 0.200 g/ml of solid to liquid ratio and 32.5 min, maximum experimental xylose recovery (130.12 mg/g initial xylose) was at the conditions of 160 °C, 0.125 g/ml of solid to liquid ratio and 32.5 min.
