Abstract:
National objective is the increased utilization of organic wastes and residues as bio-waste for bioenergy production. Caused by the high logistical effort, the region-wide collection of bio-waste via bio-bins is currently not implemented in rural areas, as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Focus of this paper is to present state of the biowaste collection and treatment, as well as the possibilities of the region-wide collection and the potential in this federal state. Also in rural areas remarkable rates of municipal bio-waste and garden waste could collect. Together with the already collected mass more than 95,000 MWhth. and 55,000 MWhel. could be produced in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania per year, based on combustion and biogas production. The strategies to increase the collection rates are different. The highest specific amount could be generated by free charged systems.
