NEW! Holland day - Biomass Connect
Organiser: Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl)
Wednesday 8 June 2016 , 09:00 - 16:30
During the 24th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE) in RAI Amsterdam a national day will be organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) on Wednesday June 8, 2016: Biomass Connect.
Biomass Connect is the event where ’bio-energetics’ from across Europe meet each other, have discussions, share experiences and seek cooperation. A new element 'Matchmaking' is added to the program to increase network possibilities by establishing contacts with relevant partners of international companies.
This event connects the world of biomass where research, development and practice are put at stage. The morning program starts with various excursions in the surroundings of Amsterdam. In addition, various Dutch companies will present their innovations focused on biomass at the Holland Pavilion where the day will be concluded with a networking reception.

Mobilisation of forest bioenergy: Green dream or reality?
Organisers: IEA Bioenergy Task 43, Research Centre on Renewable Materials, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research
Thursday 9 June 2016, 09:00 - 12:00
It is expected that the share of modern bioenergy in the future global energy mix, notably from forest biomass, will increase significantly. Countries with mature forestry sectors from the boreal and temperate biomes will play an important role in the mobilisation of forest biomass. Organised by IEA Bioenergy Task 43 and the SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub in this event a number of challenges, key opportunities and innovative solutions for forest bioenergy mobilisation will be discussed by experts from academia, government and industry.

NEW! Sustainable oil palm, sugar cane and other agri-residues as biobased feedstocks
Organisers: Wageningen UR, Enki Energy B.V., Biomass Research, AgriQuest
Monday 6 June 2016, 13:30 - 17:00
Recent initiatives have been implemented in an Embassy-lead Dutch-Colombian collaborative programme to develop economic and sustainable biomass supply chains. Recognizing the opportunities and finding innovative solutions to valorise the current biomass potential is the main objective of this programme. A number of projects in this programme have led to new and innovative insight, models, processes or products regarding the valorisation of biomass. These ideas and their implementation not only pertain to Colombia, but are valid and applicable in many regions where large amounts of Biomass could become available, i.e. the larger part of Latin America, West and East Africa, south-East Asia. This workshop will present the results of the projects within the framework of the Dutch-Colombian co-operation.

Moderated Visual Sessions (NEW for 2016) |
|
This year, the visual sessions will be moderated by dedicated chairpersons. Each moderated visual session will be guided by chairpersons leading delegates through the poster area and stopping at each poster of their corresponding topic. Chairpersons will gather and guide the audience from poster to poster, and invite the authors to summarise their posters for a short allocated time in order to draw attention to specific achievements and to stimulate discussions afterwards. Chairpersons also can function as a bridge between authors of different posters, who often are not able to review other posters at the same session because they are committed to standing by their own poster during the visual session.
