Don’t forget that the conference programme not only includes plenary, oral and visual sessions but also interesting workshops, facilitating an open dialogue and highlighting current science and industry issues.
Overcoming collaboration challenges between the feedstock owners and bio-based industries
THURSDAY, 9 JULY, 09:00 – 11:00 CEST, Auditorium 1
The development of new cross-sectoral bio-based value chains requires synergies and cooperation between various sectors, both along and across the value-chains, bringing all actors together, mobilizing the innovations and pulling the market by bringing new innovative products and solutions.
However, the interaction among processes and stakeholders between previously unconnected sectors, carries various challenges and barriers towards the development of new value chains and bio-based business models.
Based on the Biobridges project findings, these challenges could be categorized in terms of feedstock, industry, and market and may vary among the different stakeholders that represent suppliers, industry, brands and end-users. Moreover, in the value chain, each type of stakeholder could be both a provider and a client, facing specific challenges per case.
This particular co-creation workshop will seek for the new ideas and solutions on how to overcome collaboration challenges between the feedstock owners and bio-based industries.

BIOFIT INDUSTRY FORUM – H2020 Project on Bioenergy Retrofits for Europe’s Industry
THURSDAY, 9 JULY, 13:00 – 15:00 CEST, Auditorium 1
The BIOFIT EU project aims to facilitate the introduction of bioenergy retrofitting in Europe’s industry, focussing on bioenergy retrofitting in the five chosen specific industries, namely first-generation biofuels, pulp and paper, fossil refineries, fossil firing power and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. Retrofitting means often lower capital costs, shorter lead times, faster implementation, less production time losses and lower risks. Core actions in BIOFIT are highlighting existing bioenergy retrofits and developing ten retrofit case studies in collaboration with industrial partners. In parallel, the broader industry will be engaged and supported through five Industry fora. This workshop will present and discuss the projects interim results.
