Plenary 1: The role of biomass and bioenergy in European Green Deal
Tuesday, 07 July 2020 | 10:10 - 12:00 CEST | Session code: BP.1

The European Green Deal was launched in 2019 and according to the European Commission it is “the most ambitious package of measures that should enable European citizens and businesses to benefit from sustainable green transition. Measures accompanied with an initial roadmap of key policies range from ambitiously cutting emissions, to investing in cutting-edge research and innovation, to preserving Europe’s natural environment.” This policy to address global climate change is now closely linked to the urgent EU recovery programme aiming to repair the economic and social damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Presentations will be followed by moderated discussion in which all delegates will be invited to participate.

Plenary 2: Views from the stakeholders
Wednesday, 08 July 2020 | 10:10 - 12:00 CEST | Session code: CP.1

The theme of this Plenary Session are the views of the many and diverse stakeholders involved in and impacted by the implementation of the Green Deal for Europe. The challenges posed are not just by the Green Deal itself, but by the urgent needs to address the clear and obvious challenges caused by climate change and more recently by the urgent need to recover from the economic and social damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The challenges will be identified and discussed at this critical time following the shocks of the pandemic and the growing realisation of the urgent need to take practical actions to tackle climate change.
