Best wishes for 2021

Dear EUBCE follower,

On behalf of the whole ETA team I would like to convey our best wishes for 2021.

You will agree that one of the early highlights in 2021 will be the 29th edition of the EUBCE 2021, and we do hope that you noted the 26th- until 29th April already in your calendar.

How is the EUBCE programme coming up?

To prepare the right Christmas gift, the Executive Committee met online to review the draft programme delivered by the scientific committee which reviewed and scored all abstracts you were submitting. The team did a great job in finalizing the preliminary programme outline just before Christmas. You can download here.

It was just in time for Santa Claus to pick it up!

Late abstracts

Most of the authors should be notified by now, but we kept a number of slots open for late abstract submission, see the details on the homepage www.eubce.com. You can hand in abstracts until 30th of March 2021.

Global contributions

Offering an online format already at the time of the call for abstracts was a novelty for the conference organizer, but the outcome was quite surprising: Whilst the number of abstracts was a bit smaller than for 2020, the global outreach is quite overwhelming: The EUBCE attracted authors from all continents, and we are all pleased to see many abstracts from the Americas, with South America leading, but also from the Asia/Pacific region and Africa. It seems to confirm that an online conference allows now participants from a larger, global Biomass community to actively participate and share their work on a global platform.

Programme details

At a closer look, the preliminary programme provides for some changes:
There will be now six plenary sessions, doubling compared to the previous year (3). There is now a new “after-lunch slot” for plenaries, a good reason to get back to the screen, even though you might still be busy with your favourite lunch, nobody will notice anyway. However, the plenary talks were selected to be really attractive for the wider audience, no matter what background.

Also, the first time the conference features every and throughout the day the “Industry Track”, with comprehensive presentations from businesses, enterprises and Industry which would not normally send in an scientific abstract for evaluation.

Novelties and Niceties

There will be a number of new ideas still to realize, like discussion panels, chatrooms and lunch/coffee break programme. Together with our French partners we also like to give you an “online feeling” of the French Provence with the beautiful City of Marseille.

As voice has already spread, we are working hard on the new “Visual Presentation” format, which actually will transform in an online “mini-oral” presentation, with even more freedom than in a classical podium-like oral presentation, or the traditional presentation within a poster session.

Stay tuned, exciting news and information will follow soon!
