EUBCE 2019 Technical Tours

This year again, the core of the traditional EUBCE conference will be held over 4 days; there will however be an extension to the conference and exhibition in order to show the achievements in the field of biomass utilisation technologies and supporting policies in Portugal as well as integrating bioproducts into traditional fossil-based system.

On Friday 31st May exclusive technical tours will be organised by members of the national committee to visit and discuss successful sites of biomass utilisation.

Microalgae Production towards the 10 HA scale                                          



ALGATEC ECO BUSINESS PARK
Friday, 31th May
09:00-15:00

The tour will enable conference participants to experience the first phase construction of what will be the largest algae park in Europe, and learn about the potential of microalgae biomass as a sustainable raw-material for food, feed, cosmetics, pharma, bio fibers, fertilizers, wastewater treatment, soil remediation and biofuel.

Biomass Power Plant




Fundão Biomass Plant
Friday, 31th May
08:00-19:30

Visit a biomass power plant with an installed capacity of 15 MW, where energy is generated through the combustion of forest biomass. The plant’s contractor is Elecnor, in charge of its design, engineering, equipment supply, construction, installation and commissioning work. The plant allows for a reduction in CO2 emissions of 88.400 tons per year and consumes around 600 tons of biomass per day.
