Message from EUBCE General Chairman Michael Persson
|
|
“It is a great honour to welcome you to the 26th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition in Copenhagen 2018.
A pioneer in bioenergy, Denmark is well suited to host the 26th EUBCE. We started early moving away from coal by co-firing our most important domestic biomass, straw, and later developed boilers and feeding systems for biomass fueled plants, using pellets, chips and straw, and exporting technology to numerous countries. We were also early adopters of exploiting municipal solid waste for energy rather than landfilling. Now biogas is quickly moving forward expected to fill 10% of our natural gas system in 2018.
The whole bio-economy, delivering food, feed, materials, chemicals and energy, is based on biomass. Also here, with its strong food companies and cooperative spirit among primary producers, industry and academia, Denmark is leading the way.

EUBCE for decades has been a leader in gathering key people from academia, business and politics interested in biomass and bioenergy. For almost one week new scientific and technical breakthroughs will be presented, sustainability will be assessed and the framework for the best exploitation of biomass discussed.
Biomass is one of the answers to a fossil-free future, and for many applications, the only one!
I look forward to see you in Copenhagen in May.

EUBCE 2018 Site Visits: NGF Holsted Biogas Plant |
|
Friday 18th May 2018
Exclusive Site Visit to NGF Holsted Biogas Plant
|
|
|
A limited number of conference attendees will receive a unique opportunity to visit NGF Holsted Biogas Plant.
Experience one of the largest and most advanced biogas plants in Europe owned and operated by Nature Energy. The plant is converting 400.000 t of biomass into 13 million m3 of pure methane for injection into the extensive Danish gas grid. The flexibility of the plant is unique, thus it is capable of handling slurry, deep bedding, food waste and other industrial biomasses and the digestate is spread on the farming fields around the plant. The plant is operated fully automatic and is only manned during daytime.
The tour will enable conference participants to experience and learn about a power facility where biomass is the key renewable feedstock in the production of renewable energy, biofuels, biochemicals and biomaterials
Spaces are limited and will be allocated to EUBCE participants on a first come - first served basis.
For organisational reasons, tour registrations must be completed by 6th March 2018.
