7 April 2014 - Prof. Dr. Clemens Hoffmann, Director of Fraunhofer IWES Kassel has been appointed as Conference General Chairman of the 22nd European Biomass Conference and Exhibition.

This leading international platform will host the global biomass community in Hamburg from 23 to 26 June 2014 attracting experts and industrial exhibitors from more than 60 countires making the event a significant tool for technology transfer and networking opportunities.

“We need conferences like this one. We need dialogue among experts in order to become aware of the manifold interdependencies of our individual research fields. [...] The structure of this conference intends to take care of this ‘system’ issue. The conference offers plenary sessions every day as well as parallel special sessions both early in the morning and in the afternoon grouped into the following topics:
  • Biomass resources
  • Biomass conversion technologies for energetic use
  • Biomass conversion technologies for material use
  • Biomass policy
I look forward to welcoming you to this conference and inviting you to share in the overall development of our field. EU BC&E Background

For over 30 years now, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition - European BC&E - has combined a well-renowned international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. The European BC&E is held at different venues throughout Europe and ranks on top of the world's leading events in the biomass sector.
It provides a high-level scientific programme and parallel events which attract participants from a wide ranging background: Researchers, engineers, technologists, standards organisations, financing institutions and policy and decision makers.

Such a global exchange platform of current knowledge in turn attracts industrial exhibitors, making the conference events a significant tool for technology transfer and innovation.
The EU BC&E is supported by European and international organizations such as the European Commission, UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Natural Sciences Sector, EUBIA - the European Biomass Industry Association, WCRE - the World Council for Renewable Energy, BEC CRIES – Biomass Energy Committee of Chinese Renewable Energy Society, UFOP - Union zur Förderung von Oel- und Proteinpflanzen, UNICA - The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association and further organisations.

The Technical Programme is coordinated by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre.
